Following on from my last update to you , I'm now writing to let you know that we have been instructed by the Government to close the school to almost all children after this Friday 20th March until further notice.
We will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children . After a quick survey yesterday this will be around 80 children. However, as the Government have not yet let us know the complete list of who they see as key workers this number will change . This list has been promised at some point today by the Government. I will be in touch as soon as I hear anything and will let you know if your child will be coming into school next week. I am also carrying out a risk assessment of our staff who will be available during the closure to ensure the children who will be coming into school are safe and supported accordingly. This maybe on a rota basis depending on the staffs health and family circumstances. At the moment I have 33% of staff having to stay at home . You all have staff email addresses. Can I urge you to only contact staff if it is about the work sent home . Can I ask you to understand staff are also having to manage this situation with their families and may not be able to reply straight away.
If your child has free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this , with support from a scheme the Government has just announced.
This is as much as I know right now and I appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this ever changing situation. I understand this news will have an impact on you and your family and it is far from ideal, but I will keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss any concerns
